Weather
 
Skagway weather is moderate year-round.  It is recommended to dress in layers. Weather can vary from cool and rainy to warm and sunny during the summer months. 
 
These conditions are for Skagway, they do not begin to reflect the conditions on the Chilkoot pass where snowfall can be 200 inches per year and winter temperatures can dip to -50°F.

Did You Know?
The Chilkoot Trail was an important trade route connecting the Tlingits with interior First Nation peoples long before the Klondike Gold Rush. Dyea or Deiyaa (Tlingit for "to pack") was a small Native settlement used as a fishing camp and staging area for trade expeditions to and from the interior.
