What is a Junior Ranger?Junior Rangers help everyone to "Explore, Learn, and Protect" our national parks. Anyone can be a Junior Ranger! Once you learn about the monument and the amazing resources found here, you will be able to share your knowledge with friends and family! Junior Rangers are representatives to tell others why Dinosaur National Monument is a special place and how to protect it for the future. Upon completing your booklet, you'll receive a badge to remind you of your important role in the National Park Service. How to Become A Junior RangerBecoming a Junior Ranger is easy! Just ask for a Junior Ranger booklet at one of the Visitor Centers or the Quarry Exhibit Hall. You can also email us to request a Junior Ranger booklet if you can't visit in person, or if you want to complete the book before you arrive.Once you've got the book, do the following:
Virtual Junior RangersNot visiting in person or want to work on your book ahead of your visit? You can download one of our booklets to do at home! There are two versions - one for readers (approximately ages 5 and up), and one for our youngest visitors (5 and under). Children can fill out whichever book fits their needs. You can download the Junior Ranger book (ages 5 and up) or the Pre-Reader Junior Ranger book (ages 5 and under). When you finish the activity book, just email us. After a ranger replies, you can attach some pictures of the finished book to your email. Then we will mail you a badge! Junior Ranger ProgramsDuring the summer, rangers offer a variety of programs that Junior Rangers can attend. These programs feature a variety of topics and activities designed for all ages. They're also a great place to chat with park rangers to gather information that can help you complete your Junior Ranger booklets. Be sure to check the Park Calendar before you arrive in summer to see what programs are available and when.
