Rangers in the Classroom

Please contact the Education Specialist to inquire about possible classroom visits in 2022-23.

Park rangers may be available to visit your classroom (in-person or virtually) and introduce students to Death Valley National Park. Classroom visits are typically limited to schools within a two hour driving radius from the Furnace Creek Visitor Center in the park. There is more availability for classroom programs from August to October and from April until June, as the weather in Death Valley is too hot for in-park field trips.

Every Kid Outdoors Programs

Did you know the National Park Service has launched a special program for fourth graders? Fourth grade teachers interested in Every Kid in a Park programs for their classes should contact the Education Specialist. Subject to availability, rangers may be able to facilitate an activity in fourth grade classrooms as part of the Every Kid in a Park initiative. Pre-Field Trip Classroom Programs

We encourage classes to schedule a ranger visit to the classroom prior to the field trip. A classroom visit helps the rangers introduce themselves and the park, get to know the students, and prepare students for their field trips. Pre and post trip lesson plans for teachers are also available.

Special Requests

Subject to ranger staffing and availability, Death Valley National Park may be able to accommodate a special request at your school, such as presenting or setting up a booth at a job fair, science night, or special event.
