4th Maryland Regiment Authorized 16 September 1776 in the Continental Army as the 4th Maryland Regiment. Assigned 27 December 1776 to the Main Army. Organized 27 March 1777 to consist of eight companies from Baltimore, Anne Arundel and Somerset Counties. Assigned 22 May 1777 to the 2d Maryland Brigade, an element of the Main Army. *175th Infantry, Maryland Army National Guard, perpetuates all seven Maryland Regiments that served in the Continental Army.
