Wrangell-St. Elias Visitor Center

The Wrangell-St. Elias Visitor Center is located at mile 106.8 Richardson Highway; about 10 miles south of the intersection of the Glenn Highway and the Richardson Highway in Glennallen, AK. The campus-style layout invites you to explore at your own pace: stop in to talk with a ranger, watch the immersive park film in the theater, wander through interpretive exhibits that highlight the park’s geology, wildlife, and cultural history, or stretch your legs on a short, scenic trail.

The site offers everything you need for a comfortable start to your adventure, including restrooms, picnic tables, and the official park store. Administrative and business offices are located nearby as well.

Call the visitor center at [phone] for dates and hours of operation in summer, since they may fluctuate each season. The visitor center parking lot gate is locked at 5 pm in summer (Closed in winter, spring and fall). The main park entrance gate is locked year-round at 5 pm. No overnight parking is permitted.

Located in the Visitor Center complex in Copper Center, the Ahtna Cultural Center offers an enriching look at the living heritage of the Ahtna people, the Indigenous caretakers of this region for thousands of years. Operated by Ahtna, Incorporated, the center features cultural exhibits, traditional tools, and a beautifully hand-built fish wheel that reflects the importance of salmon and river life in Ahtna traditions.
