Volunteers-In-Parks Program

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve! Since Wrangell-St. Elias is a wilderness based park, there is limited housing and very few designated campgrounds or RV hook ups. Please e-mail us or call (907) 822-7250 to inquire about volunteer opportunities.

Artist in Residency Program

Artists have created art in national parks since the late 19th century. Today, the sights and sounds in national parks continue to inspire artists in more than 50 residency programs across the country. These programs provide artists with unique opportunities to create works of art in varied natural and cultural settings.

Imagine staying in a remote wilderness cabin at Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve in Alaska, contemplating natural and cultural history, and expressing it in your art.

There are programs for visual artists, writers, musicians, and other creative media. Programs vary, but residencies are typically 2 to 4 weeks in length and may include lodging. Often artists are invited to participate in park programs by sharing their art with the public.

To inquire and apply for the Artist in Residency Program, contact our park partner Wrangell Mountains Center located in McCarthy, Alaska.
