Boston National Historical Park In April of 1780, the Marquis De Lafayette debarked in Boston from the French frigate L'Hermione with news that French reinforcements were on their way. After the victory at Yorktown, the French army marched to Boston from where they sailed for the Caribbean on Christmas Day 1782.
