FLAGSTAFF, ARIZONA- In response to the full Stage 3 closure of Coconino National Forest (Coconino National Forest - News & Events (usda.gov) due to extreme fire danger, the Flagstaff Area National Monuments (Walnut Canyon, Sunset Crater Volcano, and Wupatki) will modify operations as follows as of 8am Wednesday June 23, 2021.
Walnut Canyon will open at 9:00 am. Access to the Island Trail will close at 2:00 pm and access to the Rim Trail will close at 2:30 pm to help ensure visitors are off the trails for a 3:00 pm closure.
Walnut Canyon National Monument will be closed Monday, May 23, 2016 due to a scheduled power outage by APS. Access to the monument including the visitor center, trails, picnic area and parking lot will be closed during this time. The monument will reopen at 9:00 am on Tuesday, May 24, 2016.
