Fall and Winter
Generally, cooler weather starts in October, when the average high temperature usually hovers around 80 º F. Precipitation levels tend to be lower than the surrounding months.
To avoid the most intense heat of Mississippi, January and February are on average the coolest months of the year. Daytime temperatures can reach around the mid 60s, with some light breezes.
Spring
May in Vicksburg often has temperatures that rise of the mid to high 80s with an increased chance of precipitation. Sudden and severe thunderstorms are common, so stay alert to weather forecasts. There is not covered parking at the park.
Summer
Generally, from late May to September, temperatures and humidity increase in Vicksburg, with August being the warmest month with an average of 90º F. Summers are hot, humid, and sunny.
If visiting the park in the summer, carry plenty of water, wear hats and protective sunscreen and take shelter in air-conditioned buildings if feeling signs of heat exhaustion.
