United States Laws Relating to Vicksburg National Military Park

Established in 1899, Vicksburg National Military Park fell to the jurisdiction of the US War Department (now the Department of Defense) until 1933 when all National Military Parks were transfered to the Department of Interior and the National Park Service.

• 1899- Enabling Legislation for Vicksburg National Military Park
• 1919- Payment and Construction of Memorial Arch
• 1928- Right of Way Granted to Vicksburg Bridge Commission
• 1928- Easement Granted to County for Highway Access
• 1940- Authorization to Accept Land Donations
• 1958- Land Exchange with state of Mississippi
• 1963- Land Exhcange with the City of Vicksburg
• 1972- Restoration and Exhibition of the USS Cario
• 1990- Grant's Canal Expansion
