Monument is located on Union Avenue 200 yards south of Pemberton Avenue. Also a marker designating the morning position in the assault of 22 May 1863, 500 yards east of the Mississippi Memorial on the scout trail; a multiple iron tablet designating the afternoon assault of 22 May 1863 located at the east end of the Anshe Chesed Jewish Cemetery between Confederate Avenue and Clay Street; a marker designating the afternoon position in the assault of 22 May 1863, 70' off the south side of Clay Street, just west of the Clay Street overpass and a marker designating a sharpshooter's line in the mowed gallery running north & south 400 yards west of the Minnesota Memorial. This unit was attached to Col. George B. Boomer (killed 22 May 1863) & Col. Holden Putnam's 3rd Brigade of Brig. Gen'ls Isaac F. Quimby & John E. Smith's (assumed command 3 June 1863) 7th Division, Maj. Gen. James B. McPherson's 17th Corps and was commanded by Col. Holden Putnam (assumed brigade command 3 Jun 1863) & Lt. Col. Nicholas C. Buswell. The regiment was later attached to Brig. Gen. Charles L. Matthies Brigade of Brig. Gen'l John McArthur's Provisional Division, Maj. Cadwallader C. Washburn's XVI Army Corps (Detachment) on Maj. Gen'l William T. Sherman's exterior line.
