Monument is located on the north side of Union Avenue approximately .8 mile west of Thayer's Approach (Park Tour Stop #6). This unit was attached to Col. Jonathan Richmond's Brigade of Brig. Gen. Nathan Kimball's Provisional Division, Maj. Gen. Cadwallader C. Washburn's XVI Army Corps (Detachment) and was commanded by Col. Greenville M. Mitchell. The regiment served with the brigade on the exterior line from about 4 June 1863 until the end of the siege. [Refer to pages 685 & 734, Volume VI of the WPA Monumentation Survey Books.]
