Monument is located outside of Vicksburg National Military Park on former park property in the City of Vicksburg, on the west side of Wisconsin Avenue at the intersection of Wisconsin Avenue and Battlefield Mall Access Road. Also a marker designating a sharpshooter's line located on the west side of Wisconsin Avenue at the intersection of Wisconsin Avenue and Battlefield Mall Access Road. This unit was attached to Col. Isaac C. Pugh's 1st Brigade of Brig. Gen. Jacob G. Lauman's 4th Division, Maj. Gen. Cadwallader C. Washburn's XVI Army Corps (Detachment) , assigned to XIII Army Corps and commanded by Lt. Col. Seth C. Earl. The regiment entered the campaign at Young's Point, LA about 15 May 1863 and served on the investment line from 25 May until the end of the siege (on the sharpshooter's line from 9 June 1863 until the end of the siege).
