Listed on the North Carolina State Memorial. This unit was attached to Brig. Gen. Evander McNair's Brigade of Maj. Gen. Samuel G. French's Division (organized 21 June 1863), Gen. Joseph E. Johnston's Army of Relief, Department of the West and was commanded by Col. David Coleman. The regiment left Shelbyville, TN on 9 May 1863 arriving in Canton, MS 26 May 1863 and Yazoo City, MS on 10 June 1863. [Refer to Edwin Bearss' The Vicksburg Campaign, Volume III, page 1150.]
