Monument located on Union Avenue near the Wisconsin Memorial. Also marker designating assault on 19 May 1863 on Union Avenue at Park Tour Stop #4; Marker designating the assault on 22 May 1863 located 100' east of Confederate Avenue past the Missouri Memorial; Marker designating sharpshooter's line on Union Avenue at Park Tour Stop #4 and a marker designating sharpshooter's line 300' east of Confederate Avenue just north of Glass Bayou bridge. This unit was attached to Brig. Gen. Thomas E.G. Ransom's 2nd Brigade of Brig. Gen. John McArthur's 6th Division , Maj. Gen. James B. McPherson's XVII Army Corps and was commanded by Lt. Cols. Garrett Nevius & James H. Coates. The regiment lost 12 enlisted wounded in the assault on 19 May 1863 and 1 officer (Lt. Col. Garrett Nevius) & 2 enlisted killed; 2 officers & 28 enlisted wounded; 9 enlisted missing or captured in the assault on 22 May 1863 for a total of 42 casualties. Brig. Gen. Ransom especially mentions Lt. Col. Nevius and Capt. L. D. Waddel for gallantry in both of the assaults
