Monument is located on Union Avenue, 50 yards east of Jackson Road. This unit was attached to Brig. Gen'ls Isaac F. Quinby's and John E. Smith's 7th Division, Maj. Gen. James B. McPherson's XVII Army Corps. On 6 June 1863, the battery was attached to Brig. Gen. Nathan Kimball's Provisional Division, Maj. Gen. Cadwallader C. Washburn's XVI Army Corps (Detachment), on Maj. Gen'l William T. Sherman's exterior line, and commanded by Capt. Fletcher E. Armstrong. [Refer to Edwin Bearss' The Vicksburg Campaign, Volume III, page 1148.]
