117th Illinois Infantry

This unit was attached to Col. Charles D. Murray's 1st Brigade of Brig. Gen. James C. Veatch's 5th Division, Maj. Gen. Stephen A. Hurlbut's XVI Army Corps, District of Memphis and commanded by Col. Risdon M. Moore. The regiment remained in Memphis, TN until 5 July 1863 and was in Vicksburg, MS three times after the siege of Vicksburg, the first being December 1863.
