The National Park Service today announced it has entered into a partnership, designating the Emmett Till Interpretive Center as an official philanthropic and educational partner of the Emmett Till and Mamie Till-Mobley National Monument.

On Monday, August 28, Assistant Secretary for Fish and Wildlife and Parks Shannon Estenoz, White House Council on Environmental Quality Chair Brenda Mallory and federal, state and local leaders attended a commemoration event at Graball Landing in Glendora, Mississippi, one of the three sites of the new Emmett Till and Mamie Till-Mobley National Monument.

The Emmett Till and Mamie Till-Mobley National Monument became the country’s 425th national park today, on the 82nd anniversary of Till’s birth, as President Biden established the park through proclamation during a White House ceremony. The new national monument includes sites in the Mississippi Delta and Chicago that were central to Emmett Till’s lynching and funeral, the acquittal of his murderers and the subsequent activism by his mother, Mamie Till-Mobley.
