Photography is a popular activity at Joshua Tree National Park. With a wide range of subjects there are opportunities for a wide range of photographers throughout the park. Photographers have enjoyed capturing Joshua Tree National Park's unique desert landscape and rock formations. The park's namesake, the Joshua tree, has long captured the imaginations of artists in an effort to capture its unique beauty.
Popular Photography
- Astrophotography: half the park is after dark
- Wildlife photography: especially popular amongst birders
- Event and engagement photography: requires a permit
Accessibility can vary greatly depending on where you would like to photograph. The Oasis of Mara and Lower Keys View Overlook are two popular sites that are suitable for all types of wheelchairs. Check the park website or talk to a ranger at a visitor center for information on specific locations.
Service animals are allowed but must be kept on a leash and all human food and waste rules apply to service animals as well. Move information on service animals is available here.
