Eat Lunch at the Devils Tower Picnic Area

Feeling hungry? Stop by the Devils Tower picnic area for lunch after a hard day’s hike! With grand views of Devils Tower to one side and the babbling Belle Fourche River to the other, enjoy your food while enjoying the outdoors. Practice fire safety when using the grills in the picnic area. Do not leave fires unattended; ensure fires are extinguished before leaving. As always, check for any fire restrictions before using the grills.
The picnic area is open year-round, but the road leading to it may close due to inclement weather. Bathrooms are available to visitors during the spring and summer months.
There are no time restrictions in the picnic area. A typical visit is one to two hours.
All ages, minors should be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Walk your leashed pets around the picnic area and campground. Pets are not allowed on hiking trails or in prairie dog town.
Park entry fees are required.
After entering the park, drive 1 mile and turn left at the first junction. Follow this road to the picnic area parking lot.
Fall and winter: Check road conditions before visiting. Bathrooms and water are not available during these months.
Spring and summer: Suggested best time to visit.
Visitors may enjoy the picnic area at all times of day. Overnight camping is not allowed in the picnic area.
Devils Tower picnic area has a paved sidewalk with many picnic tables surrounded by a level grassy area. Two picnic tables can be accessed via a paved path. These picnic tables are 32 inches high with 30 inches of clear space underneath them. Grills and water spigot are not accessible via paved routes, but are surrounded by level grass.
The picnic area bathrooms can be accessed by a paved route.
