The Save America’s Treasures program began in 1999 and received annual funding from Congress through 2010. Congress again passed funding for the program in 2017 after a seven-year hiatus. From 1999 to 2017, more than 1,300 projects received $328 million to provide preservation and conservation work on nationally significant collections, artifacts, structures and sites.
Today, the National Park Service (NPS), in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the Institute for Museum and Library Services awards project for the conservation and preservation of historic properties and collections throughout the United States.
