About the Network
The Network is a collection of properties, facilities, and programs that offer a comprehensive overview of the people, places, and events associated with the African American Civil Rights movement. The Network is an opportunity to ensure that the history of the civil rights movement and the sacrifices made by those who fought for its cause are told and commemorated.
Joining the Network
The electronic application form as well as information about filling out the form, the application process, and criteria for joining the Network can be found on the Application & Instructions page. The electronic application form should be completed and submitted with any required supporting documents. An incomplete form, documents not in Adobe PDF format, or submissions missing supporting documents may cause a delay in processing your application.
NOTE: Individuals and organizations wishing to join the African American Civil Rights Network (Network) must meet the criteria as explained in the African American Civil Rights Network Act of 2017, Section 308402 (c)(2).
The Review Process
The NPS reviews applications for eligibility on a rolling basis throughout the year. Receipt of your application will be acknowledged within seven (7) days of submittal; new additions to the Network are announced approximately every few months. If required information is missing from your application Network staff will request the missing information before completing your application review. After submitting your application you can track its status on your AACRN profile or via automatic email communication from the application system. You may also contact Network staff for a staus update.
This is not a competitive program; all properties, facilities, and programs that meet the criteria will be added to the Network, and will be eligible to use the program logo in limited fashion, with permission. All applicants will be contacted directly and told of the outcome of their nomination. Thank you for your interest in the African American Civil Rights Network!
