The primary focus of the Springfield Armory Research library is to support staff, partners, and researchers by managing the park's collection of published materials. Our holdings include a general circulation library, rare books, theses and dissertations, copies of unpublished manuscripts, historic newspapers, technical manuals, periodicals, and microfilm. Main CollectionThe main library collection is available for research during regular office hours. Books can be viewed and checked out by park staff and partners. Special CollectionsThe special library collections can be accessed under the supervision of library staff, by appointment only. Special care is taken with these collections and these items must remain in the library. Special collections includes rare books, dissertations and theses, manuals, and microfilm (majority of microfilm is related material located at the National Archives and Records Administration). LIBRISThe National Park Service Resource Information Service can be used to search for materials that have been cataloged throughout the National Park Service. The Springfield Armory NHS Research Library recommends utilizing the Advanced Search option, and make sure to choose "SPAR" in the "select locations" pull-down menu). The NPS LIBRIS information page provides access to and information about a plethora of materials, along with links to services available through the national office.
