Buses bringing visitors to Saratoga NHP and transporting them within do not require permits under most circumstances. However, all bus trip organizers must contact the park prior to their visit for scheduling purposes due to capacity limitations and to ensure that participants will have the best experience possible. In order to determine if a permit is needed and to schedule their visit, organizers must contact the park via email or by calling (518)670-2980. Please see the following for more information:
- Buses used simply as transportation to and within the park do not require permits. Organizers must contact the park using the above contact information at least 30 days prior to their desired visit date.
- Companies or entities wishing to provide guided tours, hikes, or other such activities at Saratoga National Historical Park are required to obtain a Commercial Use Authorization for those activities.
- Buses must use the designated parking spots for large vehicles located at the southern end of the Visitor Center parking lot.
- Bus engines must be shut down when not underway. The idling of bus engines adds unnecessary exhaust fumes to the air and diminishes the enjoyment by visitors of the peace and tranquility of the park.
- Some areas of the park may be challenging to navigate in large commercial buses, especially when exiting the Battlefield Tour Road.
- School buses that are part of scheduled field trips do not require permits. Learn more about our education offerings and find out how to schedule a field trip on our Education page.
