San Juan Island National Historical Park has hiking opportunities for visitors of all ages and abilities. There are over 23 miles of trails in the park! You can hike through a dense forest, along an ocean bluff, through a historical landscape, and to the tops of mountains with stunning views. We are pet friendly and welcome on-leash dogs throughout our park. Interested in ocean views and wildlife? Take the Bluff Trail at American Camp and experience peace and quiet within view of the Salish Sea. This trail is also often cooler than other areas, so on hot summer days it is a refreshing change of pace. We also offer interpretive trails! Check out the History Walk at American Camp and Officers' Hill at English Camp. Don't miss the forested Nature Trail at Jakle’s Lagoon. Below is a selection of some of our best trails in the park.
