033 - MILL CREEK BASIN
EMERGENCIES: In case of emergency, call 911. Area map shows the location of the nearest phone. Site Location: Site is in a mixed stand of spruce and aspen at south end of the basin. Site is on west side of trail upstream from where trail crosses Mill Creek. A wood sign indicates the path to the site; the path may be marked by red arrowheads on trees. Camp safely away from standing dead trees, as near as is safely possible to the silver metal arrowhead. Number of Sites: 2 Elevation: 9,000 feet Distance: 1.8 miles from Hollowell Park TH, 2.5 miles from Bear Lake TH Approximate Travel Time: 2 to 3 hours Elevation Change: 600 feet gain from Hollowell Park TH, net loss 480 feet from Bear Lake TH (240 feet gain; 720 feet loss) Privy: YES **ADD PEAT PLEASE** Water Source: Water is available from creek. Boil or adequately treat all water. To Reach the Trailhead (TH): Hollowell Park TH: From Beaver Meadows Visitor Center follow Hwy 36 west to Bear Lake Road (approximately 1.3 miles). Turn left onto Bear Lake Road and follow for approx. 3.7 miles to Hollowell Park. TH is at the west end of Hollowell Park. |
