Site Location: Site is in a mixed fir and spruce forest on north side of lake, northwest of Patrol Cabin. Lawn Lake was once a man-enlarged lake, but the dam broke in 1982 causing considerable flooding downstream and forming the Alluvial Fan and Fan Lake. The lake now exists at its original level. Wood signs indicate the paths to the sites; the paths may be marked by red arrowheads on trees. Camp safely away from standing dead trees, as near as is safely possible to the silver metal arrowhead. Boil or adequately treat all water. To Reach the Trailhead (TH): Lawn Lake TH: From Beaver Meadows Visitor Center follow Hwy 36 west to Hwy 34 at Deer Ridge Junction (approximately 4.3 miles). Turn right onto Hwy 34 and drive to Horseshoe Park (approximately 1.7 miles). Then turn left onto the road to Endovalley and watch for the TH parking on your right. A stock loading area is a little further up the road on the left side of the road. |
