Did you know Rocky has a greenhouse used to grow native plants for restoration projects? To celebrate Earth Day, we’re bringing you a vlog from one of our park greenhouse staff, Kathleen, to teach you more about this unique part of the park. Greenhouse work has changed due to COVID-19. Staff are only doing essential work like watering and transplanting to prevent the loss of live plant material. Only two people are working at the same time and are wearing facemasks and disposable gloves, maintaining a six-foot or greater distance, using designated tools and chairs, and wiping down all handles and surfaces after each use. While park staff collect seed from the park for official use in restoration, the public is always prohibited from collecting plant material, including seeds, inside the park.
