For the sixth consecutive year the Central Rockies Section of the American Alpine Club will be hosting a trail improvement day at Lumpy Ridge in Rocky Mountain National Park on Sunday, October 15. This project is in conjunction with the Access Fund “Adopt-A-Crag” program. Trail work will take place from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The trail work this year will mainly be on the Sundance and Book climber access trails. In the past five years, Lumpy Trails Day has grown in participation from 18 volunteers in the initial year to 62 volunteers last year. Participants receive lunch and a T-shirt. Volunteers should register early by emailing event organizer Greg Sievers at gsievers57@cs.com or by calling (970) 586-4075. Registration is required to plan for meals. Participants will meet at 7:30 a.m. at the Estes Park Town Hall parking lot on MacGregor Avenue. Coffee and donuts will be provided. Volunteers are asked to dress appropriately and bring gloves and water. Be part of this fun event in the beauty of Lumpy Ridge. Event organizers hope that volunteers can stay for the full day but any amount of time is appreciated! |
