There are many opportunities for you to explore the unique history, culture and natural resources of Hawai'i inside our Visitor Center. Opened in 2007, the Park Visitor Center offers many exhibits and activities.
Films
The open-air theatre offers two 27-minute videos, which are free and available on demand. Occasionally, we show special showings of longer movies.
Exhibits & Displays
The Visitor Center contains numerous unique exhibits and displays, including a traditional koa wood spears and the popular rock-lifting. This covered section of the Visitor Center offers a fantastic view looking at the south corner of Pu'ukohola Heiau.
Museum
The Park's museum has many interesting exhibits. This includes a variety of traditional style weapons (replicas) displayed in a glass case, archeology and original paintings by renowned artist and historian Herb Kane, artifacts gathered by park archiologist from John Young Homestead, wooden bowls that are used during the parks annual Ho'oku'ikahi celebration, and many more.
Cultural Demonstrations
Throughout the week, various cultural demonstrations and hands-on activities are offered in the Visitor Center. Contact staff for more information at 808-882-7218 ext.1011 or check calendar link or social media pages for any updates.
Park Store
Hawai'i Pacific Parks Associationoperates an excellent parkstore with a wide selection of books, DVDs, maps, local made products, patches, pins, mugs, apparel, and much more. Park bookstore is open daily from 7:30am - 5:00pm, and you may also shop online.
Ranger Talks (Scheduled upon request ahead of time with 10 or more guest)
Everyday, rangers are available to answer questions. Additionally, presentations are offered from time to time. Visit our Education Reservation Request form to learn more about scheduling a school visit.
