Please join Point Reyes National Seashore staff for Science Lectures, 45 minute presentations on scientific research being performed at Point Reyes and elsewhere in the California. Science Lectures are sponsored by the Pacific Coast Science and Learning Center at Point Reyes National Seashore. They usually occur at noon on many Thursdays throughout the year and are normally held at the Red Barn Classroom at Point Reyes National Seashore's Headquarters. All are welcome and admission is free.

Title: "Conservation in Columbia, Land of Birds" and "Bird Conservation in Mexico: Efforts and Challenges"
Presenters: Natalia Ocampo-Peñuela and Cynthia Resendiz
Summary: Please join us for two lunchtime presentations. Natalia Ocampo-Peñuela will present "Conservation in Columbia, Land of Birds." Natalia will talk about the natural history of birds of her native country of Colombia and about the conservation issues they face. She will provide an introduction to the conservation, research and monitoring programs in Colombia, including projects with which she is involved.
Cynthia Resendiz will present "Bird Conservation in Mexico: Efforts and Challenges." Cynthia will talk about bird conservation in northeast Mexico, including efforts and planning, protected areas, and threats and challenges to birds. She will also give a brief overview of her work in Mexico including environmental education and scientific research and her current work in the NPS Park Flight Program as a PRBO Education Intern.
