National Park Week is an annual week for celebration and recognition of Your National Parks. National Park Week usually coincides with Earth Day (April 22). For 2010, National Park Week lasted from Saturday, April 17 through Sunday, April 25.
Your National Parks are living examples of the best this Nation has to offer-our magnificent natural landscapes and our varied yet interrelated heritage. Parks can provide recreational experiences, opportunities to learn and grow, and places of quiet refuge.
This year, take a moment, an hour, a day to visit the national parks near you.
Below is a listing of events that were held at Point Reyes National Seashore during or in conjunction with Earth Day, National Park Week, and National Volunteer Week.

Event: Friends of Giacomini Wetlands lecture and volunteer day
Summary: Come learn about the restoration of the Giacomini Wetlands and participate in a volunteer day.

Event: Historic Life-Saving Service Cemetery Cleanup Day
Summary: Come join us as we clean up the Historic Life-Saving Service Cemetery. Bring work gloves and water. Depending on the weather, a light jacket and sun hat would be good to have as well. We will be raking, pulling weeds, and grooming the gravesites.

Event: Tidepooling at Agate Beach, Bolinas
Summary: Join us for a tidepool exploration and walk to Duxbury Reef, led by docent Rick Johnson. Bring your own water-proof boots, lunch, drinking water, and sun and/or rain protection.

Event: Beach Cleanup at Limantour Beach
Summary: Join us to help clean up trash and marine debris from Limantour Beach. Trash bags and gloves will be provided. Open to families with children. Bring drinking water and sun and/or rain protection.

Event: Six mile round trip hike to see harbor seals in Drakes Estero
Summary: Join us for a six-mile round trip hike to see one of the largest harbor seal colonies in Point Reyes National Seashore. The hike will be along the Estero Trail. The trail may be muddy, so be prepared with appropriate footwear. Bring a lunch, drinking water, and sun and/or rain protection. Bring cameras, binoculars, and spotting scopes, if you have them.

Event: Dune Restoration Volunteer Day
Summary: Join us to protect and restore endangered plant and wildlife habitat at a 300-acre restoration site south of Abbott's Lagoon. Come see spring wildflowers in the dunes and learn about local plant ecology while you work alongside park staff to restore additional habitat for native and rare species. We encourage volunteers of all backgrounds, ages and experience levels. Tools, gloves and training are provided. Participants are advised to wear long pants, sturdy shoes and other seasonally appropriate clothing, as well as bring lunch and water. Get involved, meet new people, and make a positive impact on your environment!

Event: Habitat Restoration Work Day
Summary: Volunteers help protect and restore endangered plant and wildlife habitat at Abbotts Lagoon, the Lighthouse Bluffs and other high value habitat areas at Point Reyes National Seashore. Visit some of the most beautiful areas in the park and learn about local plant ecology while you work alongside park staff to carry out ecological restoration projects. We encourage volunteers of all backgrounds, ages, and experience levels to participate. Tools, gloves and training are provided. Participants are advised to wear long pants, sturdy shoes and other seasonally appropriate clothing, as well as to bring lunch and water. Get involved, meet new people, and make a positive impact on your environment!
