Through different activities, young visitors and their families can explore the diverse plants and animals of Lake Erie and South Bass Island. Discover life cycles, habitats and threats. No sign up is required. Just drop in during 10:30 am to 12:30 pm and 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm.Junior Ranger Programs and BooksThese are designed for children ages 5 to 12, but really most anyone who wants to discover more about Perry's battle and victory, international peace, Lake Erie conservation, and other park related themes are welcome to participateProgramsEveryday at 1:00 pm during summer, kids are invited to participate in a variety of 20-minute programs held at the visitor center. Whether it is folding the US flag or creating a flag of your own, a park ranger waits for you on the back porch. Programs range from stories about peace to pollination and invasive species in Lake Erie.
BooksIf you collect Junior Ranger badges from national parks or this is your first one, you are in luck. Perry's Victory and International Peace Memorial has one for the park and two others that you can earn. The second Junior Ranger book is the Great Lakes. This one is unique in that you can start it at Perry's Victory and complete it at one of 14 other national parks sites associated the Great Lakes. The third book is all about fishing.
