Campground and access point repairs are continuing at Ozark National Scenic Riverways following a record-setting flood in November 2024.

Preparations are being made at Ozark National Scenic Riverways to accomplish several prescribed fires during March. These burns will be carefully planned and monitored by the park’s wildland fire management staff.

Holidays in the Ozarks are a special time for fellowship while enjoying the peace of winter along the riverways. Take part in the upcoming holiday events during the month of December.

With hunting and trapping seasons underway at Ozark National Scenic Riverways (ONSR), countless hunters are taking part in a time-honored tradition. However, while most hunters have enjoyed legal hunting, two recent road hunting incidents resulted in arrests by ONSR law enforcement rangers.

Ozark National Scenic Riverways experienced widespread flooding following significant rainfall that started on November 3, 2024. The upper Current River reached historic levels on November 5.

Ozark National Scenic Riverways (OZAR) reminds visitors that annual firearms deer season in Missouri is November 16 to 26. Hunting is allowed in most areas of the park in accordance with state and federal regulations, and everyone is encouraged to hunt or recreate safely and legally this deer season.

Ozark National Scenic Riverways (ONSR) archeologist Morgan Beyer has been awarded the Regional Director’s Award for Excellence in Cultural Resource Management for Interior Regions 3, 4, and 5 of the National Park Service (NPS).

As fall arrives in the Midwest, visitors to Ozark National Scenic Riverways can enjoy five unique, guided hiking adventures! All hiking activities are free to the public, and no registration is required.

Ozark cultural heritage will be highlighted at Alley Spring on October 5, 12, and 19! From 10 am to 4 pm each day, demonstrators will show off pioneer skills and traditions.

Join us for National Public Lands Day on September 28 at 10 a.m. at Big Spring to celebrate the 100-year anniversary of Missouri’s first state parks and the first public recreation lands in the Current River watershed. Ozark National Scenic Riverways (ONSR) invites volunteers to help plant 100 native trees in the Big Spring area, followed by musical entertainment and volunteer appreciation courtesy of the Ozark Riverways Foundation.
