Christina Marts
Acting Director, Stewardship Institute


Christina has been part of the Institute since 2001 and served as the acting Director in 2011. Her work focuses on landscape conservation and partnerships, community engagement, working agricultural and forest cultural landscapes, and collaboration between Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller NHP, Saint Gaudens NHS and the Institute. Most recently Christina has been leading the Institute in its role with Call to Action #22 Scaling Up. Christina is also a member of the Superintendents Leadership Roundtable program.

Rebecca Stanfield McCown

Rebecca Stanfield McCown
Director, Stewardship Institute

Rebecca works on projects focused on engagement, evaluation, and collaboration. Her evaluation work has focused on youth programming and employee engagement. Rebecca is part of the team facilitating and supporting the roll out of the Urban Agenda community of practice and the Urban Fellows program. She also works with park and partner staff to develop cultural competency and diversity training.

Rick Kendall

Rick Kendall
Superintendent, Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park, Saint-Gaudens National Historic Site, and NSP Stewardship Institute

Rick is the Superintendent of Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park and the NPS Stewardship Institute. He has been (and continues as) Superintendent of Saint-Gaudens NHS since 2010 and has been part of the Stewardship Institute core team since 2011. His work with the institute has focused on building collaborative organizations, messaging and branding, and youth engagement. He is also deeply engaged on the subject of climate change and its impact on cultural resources. Rick is not only a core team member, he is also a client as a member of a Superintendents Leadership Roundtable since 2012.

Leslie Shahi
Program Specialist


Leslie helps to manage the Superintendents Leadership Roundtable (SLR) program. She manages the data, logistics and communications for this program as well as assisting with SLR leadership projects (webinars, videos, publications, etc.) and the SLR website. She works on projects related to communications (publications, newsletters, and websites) for Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park and the Institute and manages the Institute website,.
