The Mellon Humanities Postdoctoral Fellows work with a team of National Park Service staff and advisors to gather evidence and develop new understandings of the past. Working with archival sources, physical objects, cultural artifacts, oral histories, and other forms of community knowledge, Fellows will create resources to expand our understanding of our nation’s special places and the people whose stories live within them.
In anticipation of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, the Fellows’ work explores the many groups and communities who have contributed to the development of a more perfect union. Research will center on groups who have not been fully represented in our national parks and park programs, furthering NPS’ commitment to Telling All Americans’ Stories.
