Permits & Reservations

Reservations for Cave Tours

Limited reservations for cave tours at Oregon Caves National Monument and Preserve are available for at Recreation.gov.

Same-day tickets are usually available on a first-come, first-served basis at park visitor centers. We strongly recommend buying tickets at the Illinois Valley Visitor Center in Cave Junction. It is a 40-minute drive plus time too walk to the cave entrance. Buying tickets in Cave Junction will save you time and help you avoid potential sellouts.

Important Information

  • No dining or lodging options are available in the park. We recommend bringing a picnic lunch or eating in Cave Junction before making the trip.
  • The Oregon Caves Chateau, café, and dining room are CLOSED until further notice due to ongoing repairs and rehabilitation.

Special Park Use Permits

You do not need a permit for:

  • Using cameras or recording devices for personal use.
  • News crews filming or photographing breaking news events. However, the superintendent may still impose restrictions to protect park resources and visitor safety.

A Commercial Filming/Still Photography Permit is required for:

  • Commercial filming involving professional casts, settings, or crews.
  • Still photography used for commercial advertising or commerce.

Applications for special use permits take at least three weeks to process, and drone usage requires Regional approval.
