The festivities will begin at 5:00 p.m. (ET). The National Park Service has been celebrating its impending centennial for over a year, but August 25 marks the actual day when the National Park Service can claim 100 years of protecting our nation’s most treasured places. The festivities will include light refreshments, a birthday cake and live music by the Shelter Road Band. The event will also include a display of photographs from the fifth annual Obed photography contest. During the evening, the contest’s winning entries will be revealed for five categories: fauna and flora, landscapes, action-adventure, artistic and youth. The winning entries have been judged on technical excellence, originality, creativity, visual impact, and artistic merit. For more information, please contact the park at (423) 346-6294. |
