UPPER COMPOSTER STILL CLOSED –Please bring blue bags if using the upper bivy sites! The Trail to the upper bivy area is almost entirely snow free up to about 6100' which is at the top of the grassy moraine at the start of the traverse over to the upper bivy area. Running water is readily available throughout most of the basin. A couple of the smaller upper bivy sites have melted out. Almost all of the snow bridges over Boston Creek have melted out. Crossing Boston Creek was fairly easy today although with the predicted warmer weather it could become more difficult. Some of last weeks snow has sloughed off of the steeper aspects and there are reports of punchy, knee deep snow at higher elevations. Looking from the upper bivy area, the approach couloir to the West Ridge appears to still be in. -Climbing Rangers
