Permits

Certain activities require an approved permit from the superintendent. Permits do not apply to lands within the boundary of the Niobrara National Scenic River managed by private individuals or organizations, or other state or federal agencies.

Activities that Require a Permit:

Collecting plants or wildlife.
Removal of wildlife for purposes other than those under legal hunting, fishing or trapping as regulated through Nebraska state laws and regulations.

Audio Disturbances.

  • Operation of any type of portable motor or engine, or device powered by a portable motor or engine.

  • Operation of a public address system in connection with a public gathering or special event for which a permit has been issued.

Soliciting or demanding gifts, money, goods or services.

Conducting a sports event, pageant, regatta, public spectator attraction, entertainment, ceremony, or similar event.

Public assemblies.
Administrative offices of Niobrara National Scenic River are not available for public assemblies, meetings, gatherings, demonstrations, parades and other public expression of views.

First Amendment Gatherings are allowed at the the flag pole at the visitor center. Permits are required for all gatherings over 25 people.

Commercial Filming and Photography.
