  Alert, Severity, caution, Life Jackets Required!By Nebraska State law, all children 12 years old and younger must WEAR a USCG approved life jacket to float the Niobrara NSR. Anyone over 12 years old must HAVE a life jacket. If you are renting equipment, your outfitter will provide them.

• Highway 12 Detour until Spring of 2025

  Alert, Severity, information, Highway 12 Detour until Spring of 2025The Minnechaduza Creek Bridge is currently closed for replacement. Traffic is detoured around the bridge using county road 906th. This impacts river visitors. Please contact Niobrara NSR staff for more information at 402-389-1925.

Planning to Float the River:

For current conditions, call the park at 402-386-1925 for daily information, current CFS, and daily weather report. 

If you are planning a trip on the Niobrara NSR, we recommend gathering information like the local weather forecasts, the river flow conditions, and if you need equipment, the local outfitters are a good place to look.

Using the table to the right, park visitors can link to the USGS website to find current river conditions, such as current depth, flow rate, and water quality information under "Current River Level." For information on outfitters located in or around Valentine, please select "Local River Outfitters."
