Road and Trail Closures

As the park continually strives to make improvements that will provide for better visitor experiences, some areas may be temporarily closed or partially closed. Below is a listing of current projects and closures in the park.
 

Current Road and Trail Closures

Work may be occuring throughout the park or on several state roads that may unfortunately cause some closures and delays in the park. While we regret any inconveniences this may cause, these projects will ultimately improve visitor experiences and safety throughout the park.

Rend Trail Second bridge from the Minden side (1.27 miles from Minden Trailhead or 1.96 miles from Thurmond Trailhead
Structural damage to bridge needs to be corrected The affected bridge will remain closed for the foreseeable future; hikers or bikers can travel 1.96 miles in from the Thurmond side or 1.27 miles in from the Minden side.
Keeney's Creek Rail Trail Keeney’s Creek Rail Trail at Nuttallburg (closed above the junction with the Conveyor Trail)
Trail closed for repairs due to flooding damage This trail is currently closed above the Conveyor Trail - visitors can still use the beginning of the trail to connect to the Conveyor Trail.

Kaymoor Miners Trail Top half of the Kaymoor MIners Trail from Kaymoor Top down to teh junction with the Kaymoor Trail. From June 15 through November 19 the upper part of the Kaymoor Miners Trail (from Kaymoor Top down to the mine site at the junction with the Kaymoor Trail) will be closed Monday through Thursday due to a trail rehab project. The trail is expected to be fully open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
During closures, hikers can still access the Kaymoor Mine site via the Kaymoor Trail from Fayette Station Road or via the Craig Branch Trail. The stairs from Kaymoor Trail to the bottom will remain open.
Cunard Road Cunard Road is currently OPEN.
The road is currently open, some sections on the lower part are gravel. The road will close again in November as work resumes.

The closure (November thru March) will begin just past the parking lot for the Brooklyn Mine Trail and extend down to the river access at Cunard. From April through October the road will be open but part will be one lane.
Road repairs will be ongoing through 2027 From November through March the road will be closed from just past the Brooklyn Mine Trail to the river. In March through October the road will be open but part will be one lane, so delays are possible. Please wait for a green light at the temporary traffic light. It may take up to 5 minutes to turn.
 
Please note that delays are possible due to weather and other unforeseeable issues that may arise. All information and dates listed are subject to change.
