Road and Trail Closures

As the park continually strives to make improvements that will provide for better visitor experiences, some areas may be temporarily closed or partially closed. Below is a listing of current projects and closures in the park.
 

Current Road and Trail Closures

Work may be occuring throughout the park or on several state roads that may unfortunately cause some closures and delays in the park. While we regret any inconveniences this may cause, these projects will ultimately improve visitor experiences and safety throughout the park.

Trail or Road Location Description of Work Being Done Effects on Travel
Rend Trail Second bridge from the Minden side (1.27 miles from Minden Trailhead or 1.96 miles from Thurmond Trailhead
Structural damage to bridge needs to be corrected The affected bridge will remain closed for the foreseeable future; hikers or bikers can travel 1.96 miles in from the Thurmond side or 1.27 miles in from the Minden side.
Keeney's Creek Rail Trail Keeney’s Creek Rail Trail at Nuttallburg (closed above the junction with the Conveyor Trail)
Trail closed for repairs due to flooding damage This trail is currently closed above the Conveyor Trail - visitors can still use the beginning of the trail to connect to the Conveyor Trail.
Kates Plateau Trail Kates Plateau Trail from the Upper Glade Creek Parking Area to the Kates Plateau Loop Trail.
Trail is closed due to a dangerous slide

Cunard Road (November 4, 2024 to March 31, 2025) The closure will begin just past the parking lot for the Brooklyn Mine Trail and extend down to the river access at Cunard and over to Angler's Access and Brooklyn Campground. full closure for construction starting on November 4, 2024 to around March 31, 2025 Vehicles, bikes, and pedestrians will be prohibited beyond this Brooklyn Mine Trail parking. Both the Brooklyn Mine Trail and the Kaymoor Trail will remain open, however trail users should be cautious of heavy equipment in the area. River users should be aware that all restroom facilities at Cunard and the Brooklyn Campground will be closed during this time. Bike and pedestrian traffic are prohibited beyond the end of Southside Junction Trail.
 
Please note that delays are possible due to weather and other unforeseeable issues that may arise. All information and dates listed are subject to change.
