Camp Brookside is located on a 32 acre island in the New River within the town of Brooks. It is situated just 5 miles off of the I-64 exit for Sandstone and 5 miles from the town of Hinton. Its physical address is 309 North Mullens Road, Hinton, WV 25951.
There are seven cabins within Camp Brookside. Each cabin can sleep up to six people, with the exception of one fully accessible cabin that can sleep up to two people. The fully accessible cabin is outfitted with its own restroom and shower. Each cabin has bunk beds with twin mattresses. No linens or sleeping materials are provided. Guests should bring their own sheets and/or sleeping bags. Guests should also bring their own pillow. Each guest will have one locker with a rod for hanging clothes, a shelf and a mirror. Each cabin has a luggage cart to transport belongings from cars to cabins.
The wash house hosts a men’s room, women’s room, shower room, and laundry room. The shower room has six individual shower stalls with locking doors and changing rooms. Towels are not provided. The laundry room has two full size washer and dryer units. They are free and available for your use. An additional washer and dryer are located within the kitchen. Laundry detergent will not be provided.
The kitchen is fully equipped to serve up to 50 guests at one time. It has a commercial griddle, ice machine, large refrigerator, large freezer, stove, oven, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, mixer, and coffee pot. A large steam table can be utilized to serve hot food. The kitchen is stocked with plates, cups, bowls, and utensils for up to 50 guests. It does not have items like dish soap, sponges, aluminum foil, saran wrap or tupperware containers. The kitchen does have dish towels and pot holders. All cleaning products, including brooms, mops, and spray cleaners will be provided for you during your stay.
The mess hall is equipped with board games, books, and some field tools. Outside games, including tug-of-war, potato sack races, corn hole and horseshoes are also stored within the mess hall for your use. Long wooden tables provide seating to guests for meals and/ or meetings. A comfortable seating area is located around a large stone fireplace with a couch, chairs, and reading material. Rocking chairs located within the mess hall may be moved outside to the wrap-around porch, to enjoy the view of Brooks Falls.
A one mile hiking trail is located on the island and is open to the public. A public boat launch area is also on site. Please be mindful of other park visitors during your stay.
