Job Title: Adopt-A-Stream/River Bank Program The individual volunteer or group will help with clean up litter, trash, tires, large appliances and other debris within the river corridor and along its tributaries, roadways, and day use areas. Volunteer(s) will pick up, bag, and pile all litter, trash, and debris at designated sites to be hauled off by park personnel. Tires and large appliances will be removed and piles for disposal. Volunteer (s) may help park staff load and haul away trash. Area within New River Gorge National Park and Preserve, Gauley River National Recreation Area, or Bluestone National Scenic River Must be able to work outside in differing weather conditions. Work terrain is rugged and uneven. Volunteer(s) will bend over to pick up trash and occasionally lift items up to 50 pounds. Training will be provided in the proper use of all equipment. Gloves, water, and any safety equipment needed will be provided to the volunteer(s) while working. Transportation to the work site will be provided by the volunteer(s), not the park. Proper footwear (boots or tennis shoes) must be worn at all times. 6-8 hours per day, 8:00-5:00 pm, 3 days minimum per year Monday – Saturday, March – October Work-type clothing: jeans, pants, or shorts; work shirt or t-shirt; boots or tennis shoes; hat (optional) Required: Ability to communicate and to work with others.
