The Access Pass

The America the Beautiful National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Access Pass—or simply, the Access Pass—is available to U.S. citizens or permanent residents of any age that have a permanent disability.

Navajo National Monument Accessibility Information

  • The visitor center and restrooms are wheelchair accessible.

  • A wheelchair is available for loan at the visitor center at no cost.

  • There are accessible parking spaces in the visitor center parking lot.

  • The Sandal Trail is paved, but there are areas of uneven ground on the trail. The Sandal Trail is a half mile to Betatakin Overlook and a half mile back to the visitor center. The trail is one mile round trip.

  • Trails at Navajo National Monument are very steep and therefore not wheelchair accessible.

Service Animals

Service animals are allowed in national parks. For a definition of a service animal, please see the Americans with Disability Act (ADA) definition.

If you bring your service animal to Navajo National Monument, please:

  • Keep all pets, including service animals, on a leash at all times.

  • Clean up after your service animal.

  • Do not leave service animals inside vehicle with windows rolled up during the summer months.
