William Henry Jackson
ca. August 22 – 24, 1870
Jackson Canyon is the first of several geographic locations named after William Henry Jackson. In his autobiography, Jackson noted "…the satisfaction of having a place named after me." Other locations named after Jackson include the Jackson staircase leading into Chaco Canyon.
