The paintings and prints in the Mansion are diverse. The collection includes works beloved by Frederick and Julia Billings for their depiction of notable American, and in particular, Western landscapes and natural scenes. They were enthusiastic collectors of Hudson River School paintings. The Billings collected the contemporary art of their own time, rather than “Old Masters” of the Renaissance and Baroque periods in Europe. The artworks include European views, marine views, and exotic scenes from around the world.
