Green Lake Trail
Trailhead LocationThe trail begins at the Carbon River Entrance at the northwest border of the park. Flooding altered the roadbed and closed the road to vehicles. Bicycles are allowed on the portion of the trail on the old road bed, from the Carbon River Entrance to Ipsut Creek Campground. Bikes are not allowed on trails, including the Green Lake Trail. There is a bicycle rack next to the trailhead. Trail DescriptionGreen Lake is one of the park's most serene mountain lakes. It is surrounded by forest but offers partial views to the south of Tolmie Park. The trail begins at Carbon River Entrance on the Carbon River Trail (former road). After 3.6 miles, the Green Lakes Trail leaves the Carbon River Trail at Ranger Creek. The trail leads through a forest of massive old-growth trees on its moderate ascent to the lake. One mile up the trail is Ranger Falls. Beyond the falls the trail ascends another 0.8 mile to Green Lake. Along the TrailEight hundred year-old Douglas-fir trees can be found along the route to Ranger Falls. BackpackingCamping is not permitted due to the lake's popularity with day hikers and its proximity to the trail. The closest camping option is at Ipsut Creek Campground at the end of the Carbon River Trail. Trail Regulations
