Carbon River Ranger Station

Parking:

  • Carbon River Ranger Station - 1 accessible space
  • Carbon River Entrance Area - paved but no designated spaces
  • Mowich Lake - 2 gravel spaces

Facilities:

  • Carbon River Ranger Station: Located 2.5 miles (4km) before the park boundary. Park information, wilderness camping, and climbing permits. Accessible parking space with flat paved walkways. No restrooms
  • Restrooms: Vault toilets at Carbon River Entrance Area, Paul Peak trailhead, and at Mowich Lake. All have realtively flat path access. Carbon River Entrance Area has a paved path. Gravel paths at Mowich Lake and Paul Peak

Picnic Areas:

  • Several picnic tables at Carbon River Entrance Area, Paul Peak trailhead, and Mowich Lake, however none are fully accessible. Ground surface is either gravel or grass, and tables do not have extensions

Camping—Mowich Lake Campground:

  • 8 walk-in sites are available first-come, first-served
  • Primitive campground with no running water. Tents only. No designated accessible sites
  • Sites are very close together with 4 inch (10cm) tall tent pads and some extended picnic tables

Trails:

Carbon River

  • The 5 mile (8km) Carbon River Trail has been washed out to vehicle use and is now open to foot travel and bicycles. Trail ranges from wide hard-packed gravel to river cobbles to dirt singletrack
  • Rainforest Loop Nature Trail - A 0.3 mile (0.5km) former loop trail on old boardwalk. Sections of boardwalk are broken or sparse. Loop no longer connects on the far side

Mowich Lake

  • Several short but steep trails lead from parking to the lake. Trails have steep, narrow, rocky, and rooty sections
 

Things to Do:

  • Explore Carbon River Trail on foot or by bike
  • Take a non-motorized boat on Mowich Lake
