The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and the Privacy Act are federal laws that give you the right to access federal government records, including Mount Rainier National Park records, unless the government reasonably foresees that the release of the information in those records would harm an interest protected by one or more of the nine exemptions or law enforcement exclusions; or, release is prohibited by law.

 

Police Reports

Individuals seeking copies of police, accident, or incident reports must submit their requests through the Department of the Interior’s secure portal at: https://securefoia.doi.gov

The Privacy Act gives you the right to any government records the government holds that pertain to you including your traffic crashes, personal injuries, or loss/damage of your personal property. To request a copy of a record that pertains to you, complete and submit one of the following forms:

• To receive a copy of your records to be sent directly to you please submit a completed Request for Individual Access to Records (Form DI-4016). Mobile users: For a fillable form, please first download the form.
• To request a copy of your records to be released to a third party (e.g., attorneys office or insurance company) submit a completed Consent for Disclosure of Records (Form DI-4017) and the report will be sent directly to the party you authorized. Mobile users: For a fillable form, please first download the form.

Once on the site, please scroll down and select the “Requesting Records”. Use your Login.gov account or create a new account to proceed. Select the menu option for “Submit Request”. Then follow the instructions inside the “PA Request” boxes.

The information you are seeking may already be available on-line. Before making a FOIA request below, you may want to conduct a search of agencies’ websites to see what is already publicly available.
